Friday 11-06 Goethe: Genius Is Knowing When To Stop

Audio: DB Smith interviews James Dickie about Jewish history. Dickie quotes Goethe and said Jews do not know when to stop. He also says he monitors Jewish websites all over the world and sees that they seem to be worried that people do not like them even more than in past years. They conclude that Jews do not know when to stop. An example would be the theft from a pension fund that would devastate the lives of the workers. Or more appropriate to our current situation Goldman Sachs and the looting of the savings of 300,000,000 Americans. The audio is otherwise not remarkable as most people already are acquainted with Jewish history.

Pentagon Expected to Request More War Funding The financing would be on top of the $130 billion that Congress authorized for the wars just last month ... John Murtha, the Pennsylvania Democrat who is chairman of the House appropriations defense subcommittee, cited $40 billion last week as a hypothetical amount for the supplemental financing request. The number represented a standard calculation of $1 billion for every 1,000 troops deployed ... the final request would depend on the number of additional troops Mr. Obama decided to send to Afghanistan ... 40,000 more troops on top of the 68,000 American troops already there.

Gordon Brown: risk of British failure in Afghanistan is real Describing the Afghan mission as a “conflict of necessity not choice,” Mr Brown will insist despite growing doubts over the continued deployment of British troops, “we cannot, must not and will not walk away”.

Such a Waste of Fine Infantry So this platoon comes back to an Afghan village it hasn’t visited in three months. One of the village elders tells the platoon commander, "We ask you not to come here. It is better for us, and better for you." As the platoon leaves the village, the Taliban attack it and a four-hour firefight ensues ... From what one reads, Obama is likely to let his generals put more good infantry into bad terrain on a pointless mission.

Video Sorry About Your Dead Son; That Will Be $29,186.50, Please (5 minutes in ER) "I can't believe that in any country besides the U.S., any civilized country, that the parents of a murdered boy would receive this bill for $29,000 and such an insulting letter," Gerald Hawkins said. Hawkins called the letter, delivered to their home just 12 hours after their son's funeral, a harsh blow to the couple's healing process. The hospital checked the bill and said the $29,186.50 figure was correct.

Barney Frank says he will reconsider derivatives rules Frank said in a letter released tonight that "there may be a problem here'' and that he wants to reconsider Senator Maria Cantwell, a Washington Democrat, said in the article that loopholes played a major role in last year's meltdown and would continue under the bill backed by Frank ... A consumer group representative charged that Frank had "walked away" from concerns of unions and other organizations ... Booth stressed, however, that her group still has concerns about whether all of the loopholes will be closed ... The derivatives measure has already passed through Frank's committee

Glenn Greenwald A Court Decision that Reflects What Type of Country the U.S. is Yesterday, the Second Circuit -- by a vote of 7-4 -- agreed with the government and dismissed Arar's case in its entirety. It held that even if the government violated Arar's Constitutional rights as well as statutes banning participation in torture, he still has no right to sue for what was done to him. Why? Because "providing a damages remedy against senior officials who implement an extraordinary rendition policy would enmesh the courts ineluctably in an assessment of the validity of the rationale of that policy and its implementation in this particular case, matters that directly affect significant diplomatic and national security concerns" (p. 39). In other words, government officials are free to do anything they want in the national security context -- even violate the law and purposely cause someone to be tortured -- and courts should honor and defer to their actions by refusing to scrutinize them.

Rocket Fuel Found In Most Powdered Infant Formula The new CDC study provides some of the strongest evidence yet that a legally enforceable safe drinking water level for perchlorate should be a priority for the Obama administration.

Maybe the people of Britain are reacting to a society under the thumb of the bankers.
